SELF CONTAINED AIR ACTUATED JAW CHUCKS

Self-contained air chucks have an air actuating cylinder built in the the chuck body. They are used in situations where the entire spindle hole of a machine may be used to maximize rough stock size. Commonly used in oil field manufacturing where entire lengths of pipe are inserted through the machine spindle and threaded.
Other types of power chucks make use of a cylinder mounted to a draw tube for the actuation of the chucks. The draw tube restricts the through hole size and ultimately the raw material diameter.

SELF CONTAINED AIR ACTUATED COLLET CHUCKS

Self-contained collet chuck have and actuating cylinder built in the body of the collet chuck
They are used in both rotary and stationary applications. They are convenient for most shops because the end user may make use of the standard shop air supply for their workholding needs. Other types of collet chucks make use of a draw tube to actuate the collet clamping action. This draw tube restricts the maximum raw material o.d. size which may be inserted thrugh the machine
